You can get icicle lights with hanging string light stands (curtain-style) or with long LED tubes (meteor shower lights). Curtain-style icicle lights are only suitable for awnings and low-level rooflines since they are only available with small LED bulbs. Because of this, meteor shower icicle lights are the best that you can use if you want to have the effect of icicle light. They are big enough and have the shape for them to have an effect from the high roofline.
Unfortunately, all icicle lights are only available pre-lamped so your options are limited to what manufacturers offer. Moreover, replacing bulbs is close to impossible since the bulb sizes, shapes, and lengths are unique for each product and not all manufacturers provide or sell replacement bulbs.
String Lights
If you want to go for a classic or versatile look for your roofline lighting, string lights are the best that you can use. You can get these pre-lamped with LEDs and ready-to-use or only the light stringer for full customization.

Pre-lamped LED string lights
These are what you would usually find sold in stores. With the bulbs hardwired into the sockets, it does not require setting up before installation aside from unrolling it from storage and untangling any tied-up portions.

Light stringer
Light stringers do not come with light bulbs pre-installed. It is simply a string of sockets with hooks for hanging. Although this requires you to invest more by buying the light bulbs separately, it gives you endless possibilities on which bulbs you can use. For instance, you can use a combination or pattern of colors that you cannot buy anywhere else.
